手機已經是現代生活不可缺少的一部分。不過為了防止手機突然響了，影響到其他的人，有些場合卻禁止使用手機, 像是電影院，教堂，餐廳，甚至有些飯店還要求客人在飯店餐廳關掉手機。
但是對於即使在吃飯時也無法關掉手機的客人，部分飯店特別提供手機臨時
寄放服務。
由服務人員保管客人的手機，如果有必要的話，就馬上將手機帶回給客人。
儘管飯店提供這樣的服務，還是有很多客人不放心將手機交給別人，所以很多人並不接受這項服務。
